Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey

Four years after her first appearance in Suicide Squad, Harley Quinn is back. Since we last saw her, she and the Joker broke up. Harley now has to find her place in the world and face the consequences of her actions without her partner.

The movie follows the story of several characters who eventually cross paths and have to work together. Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jurnee Smollett-Belle (Black Canary), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Huntress), Rosie Perez (Renee Montoya), and Ella Jay Basco (Cassandra Cain), all journey together to escape and defeat their common enemy of Black Mask.

“The movie was really funny and had a lot of action which was really good” said Levi Holmes (12).

The chemistry between the characters in the movie was very apparent and made for an enjoyable experience. Everyone also seemed to be involved with and embody their characters which added to the viewing experience. The storyline throughout the movie connected in many ways and brought forth new characters and situations which the Birds had to overcome. It was engaging and intrigued viewers with every scene. Comedy and action blended perfectly alongside likeable and relatable characters. The music, effects, sets, and even the fight choreography were all executed very well and made the movie even better.

“Harley Quinn and all the new characters are so interesting and I want to see what they do in the new Suicide Squad and Birds of Prey 2” said Chris Rezendez (12).

All in all, I would give this movie a 10/10. So far this year, Birds of Prey has been the best movie I’ve seen. Seeing Harley back with new additions to the DCEU broadens the horizons for new experiences and ideas which could be incorporated into sequels and future movies. I am anticipating what the studio will do with Harley Quinn next in Suicide Squad.
