Do Revenge, released on September 16th, 2022, is a dark comedy thriller with a lighthearted tone and strong performances from the two leads. It focuses on two girls who decide to team up and help each other “do revenge” on their respective enemies. Drea (Camilia Mendes), a popular girl experiencing a fall from grace, blames her loss of status on her ex-boyfriend who leaked a sensitive video about her. Eleanor (Maya Hawke) is arriving at Drea’s high school with a false rumor following her that destroyed her reputation when she was younger.

The story follows each girl as the plot thickens, adding in new characters who complicate the already complex situation. Eventually, it’s clear that one of the girls’ plans isn’t fully revealed to the other, which leads to some disastrous consequences and a shocking betrayal. The villains aren’t fully good or bad either, with some surprising apologies from unexpected enemies.

The overall movie was very fun with beautiful pastel palettes, unusual school outfits, and shiny set pieces. It is a truly gorgeous film to watch. The plot occasionally trips over itself and loses the main theme but I still found myself very invested in the characters. Both Camilia and Maya walked the line well between cold, borderline sociopathic teenagers and flawed human beings. The music choices for this movie were also very well done, with recently released songs fitting the tone of each scene perfectly.

All in all, Do Revenge has a fun premise, is a bit silly, and while overall well put together occasionally suffering from cloudiness over the main message of feminism and forgiveness. I’d rate this movie 3.5 out of 5 Titan Shields.
