BirdBox is a movie that show what a possible apocalypse would look like today in modern America. In the beginning of the movie, there’s an introduction to the main character, Malorie Hayes, played by Sandra Bullock. She and her two children Boy, played by Julian Edwards, and Girl, played by Vivien Lyra Blair, are in a housing area while a man is talking to them through a walkie-talkie; describing to them about a so-called compound where Malorie and her children can all go and be safe without the overlooking fear of the parasite causing people to want to commit suicide.

The next scene is of Malorie giving Boy and Girl a seemingly harsh pep talk about how difficult it will be to stay alert and quiet while riding down the river to the compound, but they will have to be able to do both without fault. She also talks about how they both have to listen and obey every single thing she says to them, because if they don’t, there’s a chance that they will die. Throughout the movie, there are flashbacks of the progression of when the three of them are on the river to the day when Malorie came into labor and so-forth.

Finally, after over 20 hours on the river and a difficult run-in with the suicide causing being, Malorie, Girl, and Boy make it to the compound where they see everything they either didn’t have or things that have been taken away from them when the apocalypse began.
